Mobile Cocktail Making Class In Port Talbot | From £40pp Fully Inclusive

A professional mixologist brings the bar to you — Aberavon to the town centre, no guest travel, no setup, no hidden costs.

Most cocktail classes expect your group to come to a venue. We reverse it. Alex Morgan, our Port Talbot–based mixologist, loads a complete working bar into the car and sets it up wherever you are — a seafront Airbnb near Aberavon Beach, a flat in the town centre, a hired function room, or your own kitchen. By the time your guests arrive, the spirits are lined up, the ice is in, and the garnishes are prepped.

Two hours. Three cocktails per guest, made by hand with guidance at every step. Everything — alcohol, glassware, tools, fresh ingredients — travels with Alex and leaves with him at the end.

Class Format

What Happens During the Class?

Alex arrives roughly half an hour before the start to set up, so the room is already a bar — not a classroom — when your group walks in.

1

First Cocktail

The first cocktail is taught slowly: he works through each measure and movement before anyone lifts a shaker.

2

Second and Third Cocktails

By the second and third, most guests are measuring, shaking, layering and garnishing with real confidence and far less prompting. That climb is deliberate — the session is built so people end it feeling capable, not just entertained.

3

Challenge Games

Between rounds, challenge games keep the energy moving. Some groups get competitive, some collaborative, some chaotic — Alex reads the room and adjusts.

4

Pack-Down

When the final drink is poured and the games are done, he packs the bar down. Glassware, equipment, leftover ingredients — everything leaves with him.

Honest Comparison

Is It Better Than a Bar or a Venue-Based Class?

It depends what you want, so here's an honest comparison:

Feature Mobile class at your venue Venue-based class Cocktail bar
Travel needed None — host comes to you Yes, your whole group Yes
Privacy Your space, your group only Often shared Public
Hands-on making Yes, every guest Sometimes No
Set time slot You choose Fixed Walk-in / queue
Mocktail-equal option Yes, no extra cost Varies Varies
Best for Hen dos, birthdays, home celebrations Mixed casual outings Drinks, not learning

For a private group occasion — especially when you want everyone in one place without organising taxis or splitting up — bringing the class to you tends to win on convenience and atmosphere.

Cocktail Choices

Choosing Your Cocktail Menu

There's no fixed list. Before the session we talk through what your group enjoys and build the menu around that — and how adventurous you want to get.

Drinks that come up most often at Port Talbot events:

Mojito

White rum, fresh mint, lime, soda. Usually taught first; the muddling sets the tone for everything after.

Pornstar Martini

Vanilla vodka, passion fruit liqueur, prosecco chaser. The most-requested at hen parties.

Espresso Martini

Vodka and Kahlúa over a fresh espresso shot. Best with a good double and plenty of ice.

Aperol Spritz

Aperol, prosecco, soda. Simple to build, but the layering and garnish make it a great teaching drink.

Margarita

Blanco tequila, triple sec, fresh lime. Where guests learn to taste and adjust as they go.

Old Fashioned

Bourbon, Angostura, demerara. The stirring technique is a deliberate contrast to the shaken drinks.

Cosmopolitan

Citrus vodka, Cointreau, cranberry, fresh lime. A reliable crowd-pleaser that photographs well.

Every drink has a full mocktail version — same care, same glassware, same garnish. Not juice in a fancy glass.

Practical Skills

The Techniques You'll Actually Learn

Alex teaches why, not just what, so the skills carry beyond the three drinks on the night:

1

Shaking

Shaking suits citrus, dairy or egg-white drinks — it chills fast and aerates, changing the texture.

2

Stirring

Stirring suits spirit-led drinks like the Old Fashioned, where gentle chilling and controlled dilution matter. The skill is knowing when to stop.

3

Muddling

Muddling is pressure and patience. Press herbs too hard and you get bitterness, not oils — the Mojito is the best classroom for it.

4

Layering

Layering relies on spirits sitting at different densities. Pour in the right order and the layers hold.

5

Garnishing

Garnishing isn't an afterthought — the right citrus twist releases aromatic oils across the surface of the drink.

Best Event Types

Events This Works Well For in Port Talbot

Hen Parties

A cocktail class gives a hen do its shape — nobody's standing around waiting for the night to “start.” Making something together levels the group fast, and the room usually finds its own energy inside twenty minutes. Mocktail options keep the bride, a pregnant guest or any non-drinker just as involved.

Optional hen-party add-ons: if you'd like to extend the evening, the class can be paired with hen party life drawing in Port Talbot, buff butlers in Port Talbot or male strippers in Port Talbot — all optional and bookable directly with us.

Birthdays & Milestones

A cocktail session kills the awkward first-hour drift when guests arrive in stages — there's a reason to gather round the bar from the off, and a host whose job is to keep it moving.

For milestone birthdays, Alex can build a signature cocktail named after the guest of honour, around flavours they love. Just mention it when you book.

Corporate Socials & Away Days

Low-stakes by design — no right answers, no performance pressure. The challenge rounds tend to draw out personality in people who are very different at a desk. Invoicing and event documentation provided on request.

Local Planning Notes

Local Insights: Running a Cocktail Class in Port Talbot

Port Talbot sits on the eastern edge of Swansea Bay in Neath Port Talbot, roughly ten miles from Swansea and around 35–40 miles west of Cardiff along the M4. That position is genuinely useful for event logistics: it's well connected by the M4 junctions 38–41 and by Port Talbot Parkway station, so out-of-town hens and birthday guests can reach it easily without anyone needing to drive on the night.

For where to actually hold the class, a few things worth knowing locally:

Aberavon and the Seafront

Aberavon and the seafront are where many groups base themselves — the long promenade and beach make for an easy daytime build-up before an evening session, and seafront houses and apartments here are a common choice for hen weekends.

Town-Centre Flats and Airbnbs

Town-centre flats and Airbnbs tend to have compact kitchens, which is no problem — the bar needs only about 1.5–2 metres of clear surface.

Function Rooms and Nearby Villages

Hired function rooms across the town and nearby villages work well for larger groups or corporate numbers.

The town also has a well-known acting heritage — Sir Anthony Hopkins was born in the Margam area of Port Talbot, and Michael Sheen grew up here — a small piece of local colour for groups who like a theme. Because the class is fully mobile, none of this depends on a particular venue being available: wherever your group is in Port Talbot, the bar comes to you.

Space Requirements

What Space Do You Need?

The bar needs a clear surface of roughly 1.5 to 2 metres — a kitchen island, a dining table pushed back, or a trestle table in a function room. Beyond that, you need room for your group to stand or sit around it, a standard plug socket within reach, and a sink nearby.

1.5 to 2 metres of clear surface

Room for guests to stand or sit around the bar

A standard plug socket within reach

A nearby sink for practical setup and pack-down

That describes most homes, Airbnbs and hired rooms across Port Talbot without rearranging anything. If your space is unusual — a narrow room, a boat, a rooftop — describe it when you call and we'll tell you quickly whether it works.
